Objectives

At the completion of this course, the nurse will be able to:

1. Identify three problems that are especially associated with the needs of elderly persons in health care settings.
2. Describe the application of clinical judgment, using professional and ethical standards, in advocating for the elderly with regard to their health care needs.
3. Apply the advocacy role of the nurse in identifying and addressing barriers to care for the elderly.
